First Run Features Acquires The Quiet Epidemic a Documentary About Chronic Lyme Disease

First Run Features, an independent film distribution company, has acquired U.S. rights to The Quiet Epidemic, a documentary film about Chronic Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

Lindsay Keys and Winslow Crane-Murdoch, the film’s directors, have each personally battled tick-borne illness. Their unique perspective enabled them to deliver a poignant film addressing the reality of long-term illness caused by Lyme disease.

The film follows a young woman from Brooklyn and a Duke University scientist who have both been diagnosed with Chronic Lyme disease. Their quest for answers lands them in the midst of a fierce medical debate, propelling them into an investigation about the history of Lyme disease, beginning with its discovery in 1975. A paper trail of buried scientific research and hidden documents is unearthed, exposing why ticks – and the diseases they carry – have been allowed to spread quietly around the globe.

The Quiet Epidemic will show for an Oscar-qualifying, week-long run at New York City’s IFC Center on December 2, 2022, with a nationwide rollout planned for early 2023.
