CONFERENCE COMPLETED The Lyme Disease Association Inc. and Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons jointly provided the 21st annual CME scientific conference, Lyme & Other Tick-Borne Diseases: Research for a Cure, virtually, on October 2, 2021. This conference is designed to meet the high standards for continuing medical education credits for medical & health professionals and researchers. It was also open to the general public (adults only). Limited number of scholarships were available for certain medical students, researchers, recent medical professionals.The conference was sponsored by the Stephen & Alexandra Cohen Foundation and IGeneX Inc.
To date, the Lyme Disease Association Inc (LDA) has presented 21 Continuing Medical Education (CME) conferences for physicians, other health care providers and researchers. Most of the conference were presented in conjunction with Columbia University providing the CMEs. Although the conferences were designed at a physician education level, the public was also invited to attend. In-person conferences were held in states including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Maryland, New York, Minnesota and California. In 2021, the LDA held its first virtual conference with live speakers.
Over the decades, faculty from throughout the US and the world spoke on topics which included not only Lyme disease but other tick-borne diseases/organisms including Babesia duncani, Tuleremia, STARI, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, RMSF, Rickettsial diseases, COVID-Lyme, Alpha Gal, Powassan, Borrelia miyamotoi, Bartonella, Alzheimer’s & Lyme, *Borrelia mayonii*, and Heartland virus.
The Lyme Disease Association (LDA) and Columbia University jointly announce we have made a thoughtful but reluctant decision to postpone our annual fall 2020 CME Lyme & Other Tick-Borne Diseases Conference due to the worldwide COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) health emergency.
