Lyme in CO: CBS News Exploring the Issue

On May 7, 2016, the Lyme Disease Association sponsored the First Rocky Mountain Lyme Forum in Golden, Colorado. LDA partnered with Biting Back, a newly-forming group in Colorado led by Monica White, who is interested in promoting awareness of Lyme and tick-borne disease in the region. Together, we brought in speakers on a variety of topics and presented a factual program on ticks in the region and across the country and the diseases they carry. Lyme disease was discussed by two physicians Dr. Daniel Cameron, NY, and Dr. David Martz, CO. CBS News’ Libby Smith interviewed Dr. Cameron and Pat Smith LDA who also spoke at the forum. Monica White and Nancy Wrigley were moderators.

This week, CBS aired two new video clips on Lyme in the region, featuring a video with patients in Colorado with Lyme, and then one with LDA President Pat Smith and the Bird Banders who are collecting ticks for a study on ticks in Colorado—a study spearheaded by Biting Back and supported by the LDA.
