VT Bike Climb & Lyme Talk Successful

The 12th annual Manchester Rotary bike climb up Mt. Equinox was a success, just missing a tremendous downpour which ended by startup time. After the grueling climb, 70 bikers plus families and Rotary members listened to LDA President Pat Smith’s brief discussion of Lyme in Vermont and some of the latest research and treatment guidelines. Later that afternoon in the Manchester Center Library, more than 50 people attended a two hour talk on The State of Lyme & Tick-Borne Diseases 2016 by the LDA President, including a spirited question and answer period. Attendees spoke time after time about lack of treatment in Vermont and lack of physicians to make a diagnosis. Overall, questioners could not understand why other diseases such as Zika were being taken seriously by the medical profession, given a lot of money by government, touted as a danger through the media, and Lyme and TBDs are almost ignored.
