Gear Up for Lyme 2010, After the Climb

Gear Up fpr Lyme Race Coordinator Andy Holzman and Dr. Stephanie Woolwich-Holzman (a race organizer and Lyme Disease Support Group of Southwestern Vermont co-leader) relax after the 7th Annual bike climb at Mt. Equinox in Manchester, Vermont. The race has grown to become part of the Northeast Bike Up the Mountain for Points circuit. Gear Up is organized by the Manchester Rotary which donates half of the profits to the Lyme Disease Association for research and the remainder to its community charities. Also pictured here are LDA President Pat Smith who addressed the bikers after the climb about Lyme and the research LDA is supporting with help from the Bike Climb and her husband Richard. The bikers received literature in their bags to protect them against Lyme disease, which has rising numbers in Vermont and the Northeast. 175 racers registered for the event which offers one of the toughest grades in the country for bikers.
