The Emerging Infectious Diseases Journal (Locke, S, et al.) 06.2023, published “Neurologic Complications of Babesiosis, United States, 2011–2021.”

This study aims to describe the “neurological complications of babesiosis in a group of hospitalized patients” from Connecticut. Babesiosis is a parasitic infection that is primarily transmitted through the bite of an infected ixodid tick. The transmission rate of babesiosis has increased in the northeastern and northern midwestern United States within the last two decades. This study aims to understand this infection better, focusing on the neurologic symptoms and underlying neurologic risk factors.
