Ticks

In this TICK section, you can find information on the many different types of ticks and particularly those in the US that can carry and/or transmit tick-borne diseases affecting humans and/or pets and farm animals.  Currently there are ~900 tick species throughout the world and ~90 species of ticks in the US. Less than a dozen species in the US impact humans with most disease transmission.   In the US, there are about 20 different tick-borne diseases affecting humans. Different types of ticks can transmit different diseases, and one tick bite can also transmit more than one disease.
