This section contains information from many different state government activities on Lyme and tick-borne diseases. Additionally, in the Lyme Activities by State sub menu, county or local government activities will appear in their own state as well as actions by universities and Lyme organizations.  In the State Lyme Bills Table sub menu, you will find a list of legislation by state and by year and information about it.

The Lyme Disease Association Inc (LDA) has been working to trying to stop the spread of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases for three decades. One of the major issues in developing legislation that helps patients is to first be sure that a number of state officials understand the problems associated with Lyme and tick-borne diseases. To that end, the LDA has worked on educating state officials across the country from legislators to governors to health departments. The LDA has also worked with county and local officials who often are looking for ways to control tick-borne diseases in their specific areas which may be more heavily endemic than the state at large.

The LDA and its state partner organizations and other state advocates have worked together to lay the necessary groundwork for good legislation: besides providing officials with education, we develop relationships with officials, educate the public to the need for this legislation, and help to pass and to ensure it is implemented.

In this section, you can view some of these efforts and perhaps find ideas to use in your state.
