Marianne Gorlyn, et al., published “Language Fluency Deficits in Post-treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome” in Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology on December 12, 2022. The goal of the study was to ascertain whether language fluency deficits could be explained by poor performance in these other neurocognitive areas as well as to determine whether they are secondary to poor memory and slowing rather than an independent deficit.

Researchers Discover Gene Set That Predicts Post-Treatment Lyme Disease

Daniel J.B. Clarke, et al, published “Gene set predictor for post-treatment Lyme disease” in Cell Reports Medicine on November 15, 2022. The researchers enrolled 152 study participants, each with symptoms of post-treatment Lyme disease (PTLD), to analyze their peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) with RNA sequencing (RNA-seq). RNA-seq data from 72 individuals with acute Lyme disease and 44 uninfected controls were incorporated to examine variations in differential gene expression.

Duke University School of Law Lyme Disease Advocacy Project

LDA Guest Bloggers – Luke Mears & Madison Pinckney are second-year law students at Duke University School of Law. We formed the Lyme Disease Advocacy Project in February of 2022 after our experiences contracting and combating Lyme disease. Our hope for the project was multifaceted. We sought to provide legal research and writing for the Lyme Disease Association, Inc. (LDA) hoping to answer legal questions as they lobbied for increased resources and better treatment for Lyme disease.

Montreal Hospital Opens Clinic for Long-COVID and Lyme Disease Patients

According to a Montreal Gazette article, an announcement was made by the CIUSSS West-Central Montreal regional health authority, on October 31, 2022, that a clinic for patients with persistent COVID-19 and Lyme disease symptoms has opened at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Earlier this year, Quebec announced plans to open 15 clinics that will specialize in long COVID and Lyme disease, as well as five referral centers and 10 satellite clinics.
