2 Lyme/TBD Funding Opportunities, 2023: CDC & North Central IPM
North Central Integrated Pest Management Center
Funding opportunities for 2023 are now available from the North Central Integrated Pest Management Center (IPM) through its Working Group and Critical Issues programs. The North Central IPM Center is one of four regional centers funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) to promote and facilitate the adoption of effective integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
The Critical Issues program funds research on important pest concerns or management of these pests. Approximately $100,000 is available for Critical Issues (research) projects, with a maximum of $50,000 per award.
Working Group team-building projects support collaboration among diverse groups to address a regional IPM priority. Approximately $200,000 is available for Working Group projects with a maximum of $20,000 per award.
DEADLINE: Applications must be submitted online and are due by Friday, November 18, 2022, at 6:00 pm EST/5:00 pm CST. Previous award recipients may apply, especially if project efforts are expanding.

The CDC’s National Center for Emerging & Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID) offers a new funding opportunity. The purpose of this funding opportunity is to improve our nation’s ability to combat the growing health threat of vector-borne diseases by building the vector-borne disease prevention and control workforce and improving vector-borne disease prevention control programs, tools, and technologies, and facilitating partnerships between academic institutions and federal, local, state, territorial, tribal public health agencies and others.
Strategies: (1) TRAIN – Increase opportunities for students and professionals to receive training in vector-borne disease (VBD) prevention and control; (2) EVALUATE – Evaluate the impact and effectiveness (non-research) of existing or commercially available vector-borne disease prevention and control tools, technologies and programs; and (3) PARTNER – Build partnerships among institutions and organizations in the vector-borne disease community. Activities must include collaborative partnerships with private partners, academic centers, or public health organizations at federal, state, tribal or local levels.
